Bill Bontemps, Director Vocational Services
Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois, Inc.
Workforce Alliance has provided me the opportunity to meet and work in a collaborative manner with businesses, educational entities and workforce partners throughout the region to achieve shared workforce development objectives. Their insights on programs, people networks and workforce development activities certainly helps Goodwill align its programs with current and future job opportunities in our community. More specifically, leaders from these organizations participate in our workshops to offer program participants first-hand tips to landing that perfect job.
Goodwill’s mission “to support individuals who are working to better their lives” is similar to that of all WorkForce Alliance members. Our Job Connection program helps central Illinois workers identify their job skills, improve their soft skills and find employment or better-paying jobs. Our Career Pathways program provides quality, effective career readiness training for high school graduates of all ages to achieve major educational attainment, skills development and employment. At each Workforce Alliance Action Team meeting I attend, I come away with useful information which I pass along to our instructors and program managers. It’s a “win – win” for everyone involved and the entire region!
