Today, the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council launched Live Greater Peoria, a new program aimed at attracting and retaining talented professionals in Greater Peoria. The program is sponsored by PNC Bank and UnityPoint Health – Methodist I Proctor.
“Our regional employers have been requesting support for talent recruitment for decades,” says Kate Carroll, Director of Workforce Solutions for the Greater Peoria EDC. “We are excited to offer LiveGP as a tangible resource to support their needs.”
Working in conjunction with local Human Resource professionals, Carroll has tailored the program to meet the needs of both businesses and residents alike. The website, LiveGP.org, serves as a one-stop shop for showcasing the great quality of life Greater Peoria can offer. Information on living and working in the region, education, healthcare, events and activities, and community resources within the five counties and numerous towns the GPEDC serves are all part of the new site.
“In the past, Greater Peoria employers had to gather various links and materials on their own to share with individuals they were inviting to come to the region,” said Carroll. “LiveGP.org consolidates the details into one website that is easy to access and share with potential candidates.”
The program includes links to many regional resources including the Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, regional chambers of commerce, the Peoria Area Association of Realtors, healthcare providers, local communities, and much more.
“We want to thank all of the organizations, cities, and employers who worked with us on LiveGP,” said Carroll. “It truly was a collaborative effort to put it together.”
Moving forward, there are plans to expand the program to include a “GP First Friend” program to help new residents connect with others in the community. The Greater Peoria EDC also plans to launch a LiveGP Concierge Service in future years.
“We hope the website along with printed materials, welcome bags, monthly newcomer orientations, and other LiveGP tools will help our employers secure and retain quality candidates for their available jobs,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Greater Peoria EDC.
