GPEDC Receives Grant for Manufacturing Strategies

Today, the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council (GPEDC) announced they are the recipients of the Financial Assistance Award from the United States Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA). The $200,000 two year grant is to be utilized for the GPEDC’s Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership (IMPC) plan for the implementation of activities used to advance, support and sustain the Greater Peoria earthmoving manufacturing cluster and its supply chain in order to generate positive economic development impacts and promote economic resilience within the project region.

“This is the first of many federal awards we hope to receive in support of our manufacturing cluster strategies and initiatives,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Greater Peoria EDC. “Projects including our new Manufacturing Network, Economic Gardening Program, Business Attraction Campaign, Startup Peoria, CICESS Apprenticeship Program, and Critical Careers Campaign all center around developing a more diverse and resilient business and talent mix in Greater Peoria. We want to thank the EDA for their outstanding support and guidance.”
