Chris Setti Named CEO of the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council

Chris Setti, Incoming CEO at the GPEDC

The Greater Peoria Economic Development Council’s Board of Directors approved Chris Setti as the incoming CEO of the organization.  He begins in his new role on Jan. 15.

Setti has had an extensive career in public service, including 13 years at the City of Peoria.  For the last five of those years he has led the City’s economic development efforts while serving as the assistant city manager.

Setti replaces Dennis Kief, interim CEO of the GPEDC since the departure of Jennifer Daly in July 2017.  Daly led the restructuring of the organization over the previous three years.

“I am excited to join the team at GPEDC,” said Setti.  “For over a decade I’ve been involved with economic development at the City of Peoria and I am looking forward to helping shape the future of the larger region.  Greater Peoria has so much to offer and I know the team at GPEDC will be a big part of the region’s success.”

GPEDC Chair Diana Hall said Setti’s commitment to our region’s economic development efforts is evident in his years of working with economic development professionals in the region and active participation in the GPEDC’s Technical Work Group and other regional committees.

“He is certainly a known quantity in our region and is well respected by his peers and the region’s leaders,” said Hall.

Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis said the outgoing assistant city manager will be hard to replace at City Hall.

“Chris carries a big workload as assistant city manager and we rely on him for a lot of information,” said Ardis.  “His background in economic development is extensive.  Our loss is certainly GPEDC’s gain and I am certain that Chris will take that organization to the next level.  There’s nothing more important than economic development in this region and Chris Setti is at the front of the class in that space.”
