From chemical manufacturing to animal and crop production, Agribusiness is ingrained in the history and economy of Greater Peoria. In fact, Greater Peoria was responsible for 7% of Illinois’ grain sales in 2014 and has $1.1 billion in commodity sales annually.

Not only is Greater Peoria a leading producer of commodities like corn and soybeans, but the region has a growing value-added products industry that includes wine, seasonings, popcorn, and spirits. It is also home to Libby’s Pumpkin and over 50% of the pumpkin production in the state.  We also have a growing industry around asian carp, an invasive species in the Illinois River that has gathered attention for potential economic benefits that can arise from mitigation efforts.
